Report - Wednesday afternoon
The team has excelled for another
day. Each day more character comes out among the team members.
Little Isaiah is the catalyst for a lot of off beat action. Last
night Isaiah and Kristen had a toothpaste-baby powder fight. One
ended up fresh and minty while the other looked like a ghost.
Sometimes things just explode.
Last nights boxing exhibition was
unbelievable. We were inside of an old building, with a boxing
ring in the middle. The stands were made of 2x3 boards and the
ring was a dirt floor. It was exactly what you have seen in the
movies many times. After a build up of about an hour the fighters
finally arrived. Pastor Diomedes opened with a testimonial and
explained that Christians can box and can fight when called to. It
was great to see that Christ can be everywhere.
What a bunch of boxers. The crowd was
screaming and the young people gave it all they had. It was very
interesting that at the end of every match the combatants hugged
and held each other. They are all great friends. The best was a
young man from our school here who is ALWAYS smiling. He got in
the ring and just played with his opponent for three rounds,
smiling the whole time. There was a rumor around the ring that
Tommy Mencarini was going to box. I can assure Mama Mencarini that
did not happen!
In about one hour the Americanos will
be playing the locals in a game of baseball at the stadium.
Although we already know our team of office workers, (except for
Jim David) and young people will get thoroughly whipped, we are
praying for the opportunity to witness to the crowd about Jesus
Christ.
This evening we will be going to Villa
Nueva to dedicate the new house that OMM raised for the Pastor
there. The total cost was $2,000. This will be providing a home
for a family of 12. What a blessing we will see.
Every day is an adventure. I cannot
begin to tell you of all the things we experience. Our rookies in
missions will be thinking about this for a long time!
Til Tomorrow.
