This is the first chance I have had to
send a report.
We arrived in Somotillo this afternoon
about 4:00 pm. Immediately we started unloading boxes and
sorting. Paul Cooksey is the director of Bible distribution and
took responsibility for the hundreds of Bibles and thousands of
tracts we brought.
Over in the other corner Daniel
Wetherbee directed the pumping crew. What is that you ask? We
brought 75 soccer balls and 25 basketballs to distribute to the
schools They had all been deflated for the trip. We brought six
pumps with us, so the pumping crew blew the balls full of air.
In another corner Gayle Dennison and
Erika Hopson directed the medical supply team. We were able to
bring 7 full boxes of medicines with us, courtesy of our great
friends, Children's Medical Ministries, of Crofton. We will be
holding medical clinic each day of the youth crusade.
In another corner brother David
Burriss was supposed to be managing the office equipment we
brought. Instead he was strutting like a peacock, showing off his
beautiful daughter Meghan. Eventually Dave settled down and
completed the job.
All is being prepared for the
launching of the crusade tomorrow. We will be having day long
events in three different villages, holding sports tournaments,
street ministries and medical ministries. We are here to reach the
teen-agers in northwest Nicaragua. The world is going to change
because God is leading this wonderful team.
That is a real reason for praise.
Every time we take these trips I try to tell God who should go. As
usual He doesn't listen to me, and puts together the team He
intended all the time. What a great bunch of kids, We have Isaiah,
who's middle name is trouble, Beautiful Ivanna and Meaghan, and a
bunch of kids just busting out to see Jesus come alive. This is
going to be some kind of week!
Pray for safety for all. We are all
fine, all are a little weary, but through two days of hard travel,
we have arrived in one piece. Pray for the preachers in the group,
the interpreters that are so vital to this effort, and for our
teen-age team members, as they meet with the wonderful kids of
Nicaragua.
Be especially prayerful for the most
special event of this week. On Wednesday, our group will host a
celebration meal for over 300 teachers. Brother Paul is going to
put the word of God forward, and we are praying that all 300
accept Christ as their savior, Imagine them going to their classes
next week, with Christ in their hearts. Would that change the
world as we know it! We are praying so.
'Till tomorrow.
