March
2007 Nicaragua Missions Trip
There will be Missions Trip to
Nicaragua in March with six of Cresthill’s members going
(Gayle Dennison, Julia Funderburk, Bruce Wills, David, Amanda
and Meghan Burriss). There is a need for funds to purchase
Spanish Bibles to give away.
If you would like to participate,
please note in the memo section of your check made payable to
Cresthill Baptist Church, “Bibles for Nicaragua? God bless you
for helping to fulfill the Great Commission. Continue to pray
for these short-term missionaries!.
How you can be involved with
Missions at Cresthill ?
PB&J Ministry
- Volunteers meet every other Monday evening (about 6:30 pm) to
make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are then delivered to
S.O.M.E. (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC. If you can't help
make the sandwiches, you can still help by donating peanut butter,
jelly, or money to buy the bread and other supplies.
Bowie Community Pantry
- There is a donation bench located in the hall outside the
sanctuary for the collection of non-perishable food for the
pantry. We urge that donations be made on the first Sunday of
every month. For more information, contact the
Pantry and Emergency Aid Fund at 301-262-6765.
Freese Fund/Coffee
Window - You can make a donation when you pick up
coffee and snacks on Sunday mornings. You can also bring baked
goods and other snacks to be used on Sunday mornings. The money
goes to our missionary family in Africa. Scroll down to
find out more.
Nicaragua Missions
- There are always items needed by the teams going on mission
trips to Nicaragua. These usually include health and hygiene
items, school supplies, and dental care products and money for
purchase of special items like Spanish Bibles. There is also great
opportunity to go on a mission trip to Nicaragua with a coalition
of other churches through Operation Mission Ministry.
Bowie Crofton Pregnancy
Center - You can become involved in this area by
becoming a trained counselor or volunteer help. You can also help
by donating new baby items, formula, and clothing. Monetary
donations are always appreciated.

World Hunger Offering
- Each October our church gives out Rice Bowl banks for donations
for world hunger. Every penny donated goes directly to hunger
needs; for food, building wells, giving out seeds and stock
animals through the missionaries that are already serving in areas
of need. There are no administrative costs involved. We also
provide current information about the world's hunger situation and
how we can help.
Thanksgiving,
Christmas, & Easter Food Baskets - There are
sign-up sheets each holiday season for food donations to make up
food baskets (boxes) for the needy in our community. This is a
great way to share our many blessings with others and to also
provide salvation tracts and church information.
Lottie Moon Offering
for
International Missions (Christmas) and the
Annie Armstrong Offering for
North American Missions (Easter) - These involve distribution of
"directed prayer guides" highlighting missionaries, their specific
needs and their work. The Missions committee sets an offering goal
for our church for each of these offerings. We have met or
exceeded these goals this past year!!
Other Opportunities
- Other opportunities to share the gospel news or minister in
Christ's name can arise during the year. The Bowie Prayer Walk,
the Tsunami Relief offering, and Bowiefest are just a few. Be
a part of the Missions work at Cresthill by joining the Missions
Committee or by volunteering in one of these areas!!
French Bibles for Guinea,
West Africa
Funds were collected to buy French-translated Bibles at
$7.50 each for
our missionaries in Guinea, West Africa, Gregg and Amy Freese,
for distribution to the Susus, to whom they minister. If
you want to contribute, make checks payable to Cresthill Baptist Church
(“French Bibles” on memo line). Questions? See Gayle Dennison.
