Connections Minister Job Description

The role of the Connections Minister (CM) is to oversee the connection and spiritual growth strategy of Cresthill Church under the direction and leadership of the Senior Pastor.

 

This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values, and strategy of Cresthill and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with Cresthill’s mission, vision and values. The CM will lead guests to a genuine sense of belonging, involvement and spiritual growth by meeting people where they are and leading them to next steps in their Christian walk. The CM will facilitate the relational connection and spiritual growth of adults through various weekly services, small groups (home groups, Bible studies, etc.), volunteer teams, and assimilation of new members.

The scope of responsibilities of the Connections Minister includes but is not limited to:
 

Connecting People Through First Impression

Responsible for creating an environment that welcomes new guests and provides next steps toward connection and spiritual growth:

  1. Leading, equipping and empowering guest service volunteers (ushers/greeters/coffee/Information table, etc.) in providing high impact first impressions.
  2. Removing roadblocks from a newcomer’s experience in all Cresthill Church services.
  3. Providing volunteer teams with current guest services best practices from innovative customer service focused organizations.
  4. Ensuring that information area, signage and key areas are clear, current, and focused on new people.
  5. Overseeing the planning of guest reception events.
  6. Ensuring that the guest services team answers questions and provides remarkable customer service on a consistent basis.
  7. Creating and continuously improving follow-up methods to ensure that newcomers are plugged into Cresthill.

 

Connecting People Through Assimilation

Has oversight and execution of Cresthill Church Membership Strategy. The CM connects new members with the Cresthill Church vision. The CM also helps people discover their unique purpose and provides next steps in becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ:

  1. Overseeing new member classes and connection opportunities.
  2. Facilitates the teaching of Cresthill Church membership expectations.
  3. Sharing benefits of Cresthill Church membership.
  4. Helping people discover their spiritual giftedness, passions and callings and the importance of development as followers of Christ and as carriers of His mission in preparation for ministry.

 

Connecting People Through Small Groups

  1. Develop a systematic and effective approach to connect people in small groups (sign-up areas, stories, all-church promotions, webpage, etc.) and moving them from visitor to members who embrace their growth potential.
  2. Owning the small group engagement process and championing its vision. This includes:
    1. Overseeing information and tracking of small group participants and leaders.
    2. Implementing a leadership development strategy to identify, recruit, train, develop and coach small group leaders.
    3. Overseeing evaluation and approval of study material and develop a content strategy for small groups around sermon-based lessons and/or other resources.
    4. Facilitating strategic conversations with other ministry leaders to incorporate “growth” opportunities in serving teams where appropriate.
    5. Development of tracking system to monitor ongoing small groups and keep track of growth and health of all accountable information.

 

Connecting People Through Outreach in the Community

  1. Oversee marketing and community relationship building activities (community ministries, business and community leaders) in order to better connect the people of Cresthill into community ministry and boost community awareness of Cresthill.
  2. Work with staff and lay leadership in planning periodic events designed to reach and connect with people in the community.
  3. Coordinating with other pastoral leadership and lay-led mission teams in developing comprehensive missions partnership strategy (including partnerships at home and abroad).
  4. This Minister should coordinate and administer a ministry environment that has at its heart helping people discover and develop a connection with God and others.
  5. The Connections Minister will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and in harmony with other staff members and ministry team leaders in fulfilling the church’s mission and vision, accepting the vital leadership role to initiate and offer coaching, organization, and support for Cresthill Church, helping to impact another generation by changing people’s perspective!

 

Additional Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Leadership oversight and accountability for the Administrative Assistant.
  • Exceptional speaking/teaching abilities a PLUS.
  • Administrative/organizational abilities.
  • Be able to lead and manage others.
  • College education, some seminary training, and on a ministerial path.
  • Previous ministry leadership experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required.

  • Passion for ministering to others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ensuring their growth and development into fully-devoted followers of Christ who will impact this and future generations.
  • Commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
  • Maturing in their faith.
  • Commitment to the Vision, Mission, Purposes and Philosophies of Cresthill.
  • Support the church leadership and staff.

 

Hours of Work

This is an exempt part-time position with the potential to grow to full-time. Due to the nature/pay of this position, this will probably be a bi-vocational position. Required: 3 days a week (Sundays and 2 work days) – approximate equivalent of 24 hours/week.

This time includes staff meetings, meeting with individuals and groups for training, and so forth. There will be reimbursement for ministry expense for meals, books, etc. The position has the potential for growth based on the growth of the church, finances, and additional staffing.
