I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works … Psalm 139: 14 (KJV)
Have you ever given praise and thanks to almighty God that you are wonderfully made? Now some of you may look at yourselves in the mirror and think, “Me, wonderfully made?” Dr. Kenneth Frank, who specializes in preventive medicine in Santa Barbara, CA, states that, “the wonders of the human body were no less than a miracle created by God. The human body is a miracle within itself. We have bones that repair themselves, organs that filter the body, a brain and nervous system more complex than any computer. Every minute of every day our bodies replace nearly 300 million cells enabling us to live long healthy lives.” Have you ever been so sick or tired that you wished you had a new body? Your body almost completely renews itself about every seven years. Our immune system is a built-in defense system that would even make Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld proud. The cells in our bodies take on approximately 10,000 free hits per day from free radical oxidation such as pollution, drinking water, pesticides and toxins just to name a few. If we did not have this protection our life span would be only days. But instead, if given the pristine environment with proper nutrition and exercise, we could expect to live 120-130 years free of disease. God gave us a wonderful heart, the hardest working muscle in our body, pumping blood that carries oxygen and nutrients through about 75,000 miles of our circulatory system. If you had a resting heart rate of 60 bpm (beats per minute) and did only light activity, in a 24 hour period, you would have a heart rate of 3,600 bpm.
In the high technology world in which we live today, it's easy to become awe struck with the latest computers and high speed internet and all the other little gadgets that beckons our attention. We marvel at the site of a rocket taking off into outer space, but let us never lose sight of the fact that nothing will ever compare to the temple that God has created for you and me so that He may reside in us.
May God bless you with vibrant health.
